April 15th, Last Day at ITS
Just researched some more and worked on the Powerpoint presentation for the project. The presentation is looking good and just needs a few more things added to it. Our group should be ready to go by the time Tuesday rolls around.

Today, Mike had Dan and myself work on imaging five different computers. We first had to go get the computers from a storage room and bring them back to the ITS office to unpackage them. Once we had that done, we hooked up the power and ethernet cords so we could begin putting the image on the computers. It only took about five to ten minutes to deploy the image to the computers, which was a lot less time than I thought it would take. After we checked each computer to see if everything worked right, we re-packaged the computers and took them back to the storage room.

Not much going on around ITS today, so I decided to check out the FOG GUI and do some research that could help us with our presentation. I found that FOG was very easy to use and provided a wide array of other services than just imaging. Dan also informed me that he was finally able to get FOG working and created an image one of our computers on Monday. This is a huge step for our project after many weeks of struggling with Clonezilla and trying to solve problem after problem. Overall, FOG turned out to be a much better choice than Clonezilla due to the quick installation time and a GUI that is much easier to use than Clonezilla's.

Today, we had Darren come in again to try and help us solve the problems we have come across trying to get FOG going. After trying a few things without any progress, he decided to just have us create our own network. Once we did that, we came close to being able to image machines, but still had an unknown problem that prevented us from imaging. For the rest of the time I was there, we tried researching on the Internet for a solution to our problem but still couldn't get FOG working how we wanted.

We were still having trouble with Clonezilla recognizing the client MAC addresses, so we had Darren come in and try to help us with the problem. After a while of working with it, he was unable to help us solve the problem. He thought that Clonezilla would possibly not work with Windows 7, so we decided to put Windows XP on the client computers to see if that would fix our problem. We didn't have enough time to see if it worked so we will have to try it out next time our group meets. Mike also had me help move some monitors and other computer parts from one room to another down by the ITS office.

Started out the day working with my group on our Clonezilla project. We were still having trouble getting the three computers we are using to connect with each other, so most of my two hours were spent helping the rest of my group find a solution to the problem. After a while of doing that, Mike had me go outside and help carry monitors from the loading area to a room in the basement of the library. Once we had all of them inside, we worked on getting the packaging material ready for the monitors unitl I had to leave.

February 25th
Worked for 3 hours today at ITS with the rest of my group on our project. Mike was going to have me help do an inventory of some computers around campus, but the information we needed was not going to be available until after I had to leave. My group and I tried to interview a couple of the people at ITS for our project, but we weren't able to find them. Instead, we worked on getting the computer we installed Ubuntu on to connect to the Internet. After a while of trying figure out how to get connected, we decided to just re-install Ubuntu to the computer. Once we did that, we were able to connect to the Internet. Before we left, we also downloaded Open Office to the other two computers we are using for our project.
