On my first day of the ITS internship, I worked with Jared and Brandon on fixing problems with some of the computers we are going to be using for our projects. This gave me some good experience working with hardware since I had never done it before.
During the time I was there, we found a few different problems with some of the computers. Having the other guys there helped me to learn a lot about the hardware since they knew more about it than I did. One of the computers we tested would freeze up before the log-on screen. We found out that it either needed a new HDD or just a fresh XP install. Another computer would not put anything up on the screen, so we removed the video card to look at it. The card must have just needed to be adjusted because the screen worked when the card was put back in. The other computer we had problems with would not recognize the mouse. We were able to solve the problem by changing some settings on the computer.
Before we left for the day, we separated the working computers from the bad ones and finished up the list of parts that needed to be ordered for the computers.
